Star Micronics GB names sales manager for southeast

Sliding-head lathe supplier Star Micronics GB has appointed Dan Pinder as its new area sales manager covering the southeast of England.

Pinder’s most recent employment spanned several years in the sale of high-end Japanese cutting tools for an established UK supplier. Before this role he worked for nearly a decade in a production role for a reputable subcontract manufacturing company based in Kent, supplying the aerospace, oil and gas, defence and communications industries.

In his new role, Pinder will support existing customers with new projects and machine investments, and expand Star GB’s customer base in the region by helping prospective users realise the production advantages of sliding-head technology.

With sliding-head lathes becoming an increasingly important aspect of UK manufacturing, Pinder’s experience and previous industry relationships make him well-placed to help customers maximise their productivity by utilising Star technology.

Stephen Totty, Star GB’s managing director, says: “We’ve built a solid reputation in Britain, not only for our sliding-head technology, but for the knowledge, dedication and passion of our employees. Our objective in sales is to help customers understand how to best utilise Star machines to increase productivity, reduce cycle times, be more competitive and develop business.

“I believe our sales team comprises some of the best problem solvers in the industry, and I’m delighted to welcome Dan to the team,” he adds. “I’m confident that his appointment puts our customers in the southeast in capable hands.”

Star GB’s upcoming open house (8-10 October, Derby) will welcome visitors from across the UK and Ireland, and give engineers the opportunity to meet with the sales, service and applications teams. Pinder will be present throughout the three-day event to explain the technology on show, meet with visitors from the southeast region and discuss future investment plans.

Looking forward, Star GB is always interested in hearing from talented people who want to realise their potential working with sliding-head technology. Anyone interested in joining the team should visit the company’s careers page here.
