Sick makes light curtain breakthrough

  • Sick makes light curtain breakthrough
With the launch of its miniTwin 4 light curtain, Sick UK has extended the applications for the safety technology.

It offers, for the first time, sender and receiver elements combined in a single miniature housing, while also achieving continuous 'end to end' field coverage with no blind spots.

The unit solves problems where a traditional light curtain would be too big and awkward to install, and do not offer as much value for the performance. It means light curtain protection can be extended to a wide range of new applications and configurations.

The miniTwin 4 units are 120 mm – 1200mm long and can be cascaded or daisy-chained end to end to 3,600 mm, without any blind spots, and units may be configured to protect L- shapes, V-shapes or even U-shapes, combining easy access to a work piece or to change tool bits or jigs, while offering complete protection.

Already this year, the miniTwin 4 has won international accolades, gaining both reddot and IF design awards.
