Schunk exhibits at Midlands Design and Manufacturing

Schunk, the workholding and automation specialists, will be at the Midlands Design & Manufacturing show 6-7 April 2011 at the Birmingham NEC.

Schunk will demonstrate the Tendo-E Compact, a hydraulic expansion toolholder that can safely transfer torques of up to 520 Nm at a 20 mm clamping diameter. This enables the toolholders to conduct cutting at extremely high material removal rates. In roughing operations it boasts tool cost savings of up to 40%.

Schunk will also be showing its TRIBOS polygonal clamping technology. The patented TRIBOS System is a ideal for micro machining. TRIBOS uses the internal stress of the steel to clamp small tools gently and safely. The toolholder is pressurised externally by a clamping device to a clearly defined pressure. When the external pressure is released, the tool is force-fit clamped. One-piece polygonal clamping technology offers concentricity and repeat accuracy of under 0.003 mm.

Complementing TRIBOS, Schunk will also be showcasing the SVP Mini and SVP-RM cost-effective clamping devices. Due to the pre-adjusted pressure, TRIBOS polygonal toolholders can be instantly mounted with them.

Also on show will be the THW Plus 215 wedge bar power chuck. The ROTA THW plus incorporates a jaw change system as well as the modular exchangeable centre sleeve system. Due to the quick-change system of the chuck jaws, no rework of the jaws is necessary after a jaw change. The THW Plus 215 is part of a range of 3-jaw chucks that clamp from 165 to 630 mm diameters.

Finally the TANDEM KSP Plus, an extremely precise clamping force block which achieves a repeat accuracy of up to 0.01 mm. The compact clamping force block with its one-piece and extremely rigid base body achieves gripping forces of up to 60 kN.
