Okuma to make additive manufacturing capability available on its double-column machining centres

​Japanese machine tool maker Okuma, available via NCMT in the UK, is to make additive manufacturing an element of it large twin-column machining centres’ capability. The news was revealed at a recent Open House event at the company’s Technical Centre East in Parndorf, Austria.

The Okuma Laser EX series already boasts such a capability, but laser metal deposition (LMD), laser hardening and sectional repairs to large press dies and resin moulds will be supported by the larger machines.

With more than 8,000 units sold and serviced around the globe, Okuma is a leading provider of double-column machines for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, electronics and automotive.
