New Okuma Corporation becomes reality

Okuma Holdings, Okuma, Okuma & Howa and Okuma Engineering, all of Japan, were officially merged at the beginning of July to form the new Okuma Corporation under a unified management.

Okuma, Okuma & Howa and Okuma Engineering were previously subsidiaries of Okuma Holdings. This move was initially announced in January. "Through this four-company merger, we will pursue a strengthened operating foundation for the provision of "only one" technology and the best service, which will not be affected by demand fluctuations. This will enable us to move forward on a surer footing as a leading company in the global machine tool industry to raise our corporate value," read the official statement at the time.
