New-for-old metrology offer

  • New-for-old metrology offer
Metrology specialist Mahr has unveiled a 'new for old' part-exchange scheme.

According to Mahr, developments in metrology, such as length measurement and gear checking, are contributing to higher accuracies and more efficient measurement procedures. By introducing what it describes as 'economic stimulus packages for the measuring room', Mahr is confident that its 'new for old' scheme offers an affordable and cost-effective route to updating crucial measuring capability ahead of the economic upturn.

It says that exchanging the metrology of the past for today's equivalents, such as the new MarForm MMQ 200 form tester, will significantly improve conformance to current measurement standards and improve productivity by shortening measuring times.

The MMQ 200, for example, features the latest-generation EasyForm software which boasts no requirement to learn a programming language. Designed for use in either the production or metrology environment, this new system can perform a full range of form checks, including roundness, straightness, flatness, parallelism, conicity, concentricity, run-out, taper, perpendicularity, angularity and angle sector (ie, roundness, flatness, run-out).

Older Mahr surface roughness measuring systems can also be traded in for today's equivalents, such as the new MarSurf M 300. The size of a mobile 'phone and capable of transmitting data wirelessly within a radius of 4 m, the hand-held measuring unit of the M 300 enables the user to access and probe difficult-to-reach surfaces on large workpieces or components. With 35 analysable parameters this new system provides a measuring performance of near-laboratory standard, and its large measuring range of 350 µm (0.014 inch) is constructed in such a way that even sandblasted surfaces can be measured.
