MTA takes over secretariat of hard metals association

The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) has announced it has taken over the running of the Secretariat of The British Hardmetal and Engineers' Cutting Tool Association (BHECTA), effective from 1 April 2006.

BHECTA members are involved in the manufacture of cutting tools of hardmetal and high-speed steel and also other engineering products in hardmetal, polycrystalline and diamond. They are closely aligned to the current Equipment Suppliers Section within MTA. BHECTA members will retain their own identity within MTA and will continue to meet as a group. Tony Deeming, BHECTA’s current president, will also have a co-opted seat on both the MTA Equipment Suppliers Section Committee and the Executive Council. BHECTA members will also be able to tap into the wide range of services currently provided to MTA members, including industry-specific statistics, weekly email bulletins, technical advice and support and a host of business development services along with opportunities to network with the wider manufacturing technologies industry. Providing the Secretariat for BHECTA is the first step in the MTA’s plan of working more closely with like-minded and relevant associations. The MTA is looking to develop a range of agreements and understandings with other associations across areas of common interest, such as providing Secretariat services, working together on statistical projects, joint lobbying or technical collaborations.
