More CNC Appreciation Days scheduled

  • More CNC Appreciation Days scheduled
Demand for places on XYZ Machine Tools Ltd's free-of-charge CNC Appreciation Days has been such that the Devon-based machine tool supplier has now scheduled several additional dates.

XYZ CNC Appreciation Days are now scheduled for: 1, 15 and 29 July 2009; 12 and 26 August 2009; 30 September 2009; and 14 and 28 October 2009.

Each CNC Appreciation Day takes place at one of XYZ's four regional showrooms – Burlescombe (near Tiverton), Waltham Abbey, Blackburn and Nuneaton – and is strictly a 'no sales pitch' event. According to Mike Corbett, XYZ's manager, applications and training, the emphasis is on demonstrating to non-CNC users that the technology is as relevant to small batch and prototype/one-off machining as it is to longer production runs.

"Eliminating the requirement to learn a complex ISO-based computer language makes it possible for a proficient manual machinist to learn to program a CNC machine within a day or so," he says. "The focus at these events is on making the most of the time available by tailoring the day's agenda to suit the individual, which is why we limit attendance to a maximum of six people from up to three companies."
