Mollart buys and sells at MACH

  • Mollart buys and sells at MACH
The MACH 2010 show enabled Mollart to both purchase machines, for its subcontract operation, and to promote its 'Hole Solution' expertise, designing and building deep hole drilling machines.

With the show coinciding with a 60 per cent increase in subcontract work over the last 12 months, Mollart's production team reviewed vertical machining centres at the show, before ordering two Haas machines worth more than £150,000. The order was for a Haas Super Mini II with fourth axis and a high specification VF5, both for installation at the 18,000 ft² Mollart production facility in Resolven, Wales.

As well as buying, Mollart won new subcontract work from an old customer from the 1980s, who took the show as the opportunity to renew the acquaintance.

Discussions on the Mollart stand with another customer led to deep hole drilling and conventional machining centre operations being combined into a single operation capability, using the Mollart Matrix DHD, launched at the show. The 5-axis, hybrid machine has a 3 to 35 mm diameter with up to 1,500 mm deep hole capacity and is currently being put forward for the application as a production-capable proposition.

The Bencere in-process deburring and roller burnishing solution tooling combined with Botek's deep hole tooling capability, providing production solutions between 0.5 to 400 mm diameter, also drew visitors to use the stand as a 'one-stop' centre for solving application problems associated with precision hole machining.
