Mazak puts manufacturers in pole position with McLaren Mercedes
Yamazaki Mazak is hosting Grand Prix themed events in March and April.
Mazak's Official Supplier agreement with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes is now in its 11th year and during 2009 it installed several new machines at the McLaren Technology Centre. These machines were instrumental in the Team returning to pole position in Germany, and to winning in Hungary and Singapore, in 2009. Mazak machines have also manufactured many components for the new MP4-25 car, that will contest the 2010 Formula One season, starting in March.
Mazak's Grand Prix themed "Pole Position" Open House event (23 – 26th March), at their European Technology Centre in Worcester, will allow visitors to see 16 machine tools. These include the Quick Turn SMART 200 (two-axis lathe), the Slant Turn Nexus 500 and Megaturn Nexus 900 (moving column, vertical turning centre).
Visitors to the open house event will have the opportunity to test their skills in the Official Vodafone McLaren Mercedes simulator and to win various items of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes merchandise. The winner of the fastest lap time in the simulator will win the opportunity to visit the McLaren Technology Centre, in Woking later in the year.
For those not able to attend the event in Worcester, Mazak is also hosting a seminar at Newcastle Marriott Hotel, Metro Centre, Gateshead on Wednesday 14th April. It is hoped that this early evening event (18:00 – 21:00) will allow busy production managers and engineers the opportunity to see the latest Mazak machine tool technology.
