Seco Tools UK's most recent 'Inspiration through Innovation' Manufacturing Best-Practice Event, held at the company’s Technology Centre in Alcester in October, pulled in more than 700 visitors over the two days.

Main highlights from the event included 11 challenging and demanding machining demonstrations delivered by Seco and a number of its partners, nine best-practice seminars, and more than 50 technical partners exhibiting their latest products, services and technology solutions.

Among the technical partners was machine tool supplier Matsuura Machinery Ltd, who used Inspiration through Innovation 2017 to run a ‘live’ machining demonstration that showcased the company’s new MX-330 PC10 automated simultaneous 5-axis machining centre.

Ian Michie, of marketing at Matsuura Machinery Ltd, said: “We were absolutely amazed with the enquiry levels – many of which have started relationships that will blossom into new business. Even better, we secured a new customer account at the event. This new customer saw our 5-axis demonstration and we began a conversation with him that (subsequently) led to an RFQ, time-study and an eventual order for a highly specified, top of the range Matsuura automated 5-axis solution with an extended automated pallet pool.”

Matsuura also decided to say a big ‘Thank You’ to Seco by making a donation to charity, as Roger Howkins, managing director of Matsuura UK, explained: “The £1,000 donation from Matsuura to Cancer Research UK (Seco’s charity of choice) was offered by Matsuura UK as a genuine thank you to Seco Tools UK for their support and hospitality before, during and after Inspiration through the event.

“We are delighted to support Cancer Research UK with our donation to help fund much needed research into finding a cure for cancer.”

Seco Tools UK is heavily involved with a number of local and national charities and the donation has been matched by Seco.
