Largest-ever MACH stand for MACH Machine Tools

Newly developed CNC and manual machine tools will take pride of place on the MACH Machine Tools stand at MACH 2020 (Birmingham NEC, 20-24 April), alongside a range of the company’s more established machines. The company will be present on Stand 370 in Hall 20.

Exhibiting from its largest-ever MACH stand (130 m2), the company is using the event to launch a number of CNC and manual machines into the market, including DynaPath-controlled models.

Says Matt Andrew, MACH Machine Tools’ sales director: “We are using MACH 2020 as a platform to raise the profile of our latest DynaPath-controlled machines, and to demonstrate to manufacturers that there is real, proven alternative control technology in the market that will make their lives easier and their operations more efficient and profitable.”

Six of the 11 machines on the stand will be making their UK debuts at the show. These models include a CNC lathe, three machines equipped with the DynaPath WinDelta control and two next-generation manual turret-type milling machines - the VS-1 and the VS-2.

The MACH S-154 MY is a multi-tasking 45 mm bar-diameter capacity CNC lathe equipped with a C axis, integrated Y axis and driven tools. The machine features the latest Fanuc control with 10.4” screen. This versatile CNC lathe is supplied as standard with a 6” power chuck, Renishaw tool setter, tailstock, driven-tool holders, parts catcher with conveyor, swarf conveyor and a barfeed interface.

MACH Machine Tools’ next generation of ‘black and silver’ turret-type milling machines have undergone a recent transformation, culminating in the creation of the SP (Super Precision) range. Two SP models will be showcased at MACH: the VS-1 SP and the larger capacity and heavy-duty VS-2 SP (1,370 by 245 mm table). Both machines feature hand-scraped hardened and ground slide-ways (dovetail on the VS-1 and square-way on the VS-2), ground table tops, and T-slots with nickel-coated lead screws.

These tool-room machines are equipped with VFD-driven spindles (5,000 rpm) plus standard features such as Newall DRO systems, coolant equipment, power feeds, base splash trays and low-voltage lights.

Among the DynaPath-controlled machines on show will be the MACH MDS 700 ATC Spider, a CNC/manual knee type mill equipped with an internal automatic tool changer (4 or 8 station) positioned around the machine’s spindle. This configuration resembles a spider, hence the name. The integration of a tool changer increases the performance and appeal of the MDS 700 ATC Spider. With its 5,000 rpm direct-drive spindle and directly driven X, Y and Z axes, the machine can be used for manual and semi-automatic jobs, as well as being capable of fully automatic operation.

Elsewhere on the stand will be the 3-axis MACH MDT-1 and MDT- 2 DynaPath-controlled turret-type milling machines, which are built on the same platform as the MACH VS-1 SP and MACH VS-2 SP. There are however, a number of important differences, which include: ball screws instead of lead screws in the X, Y and Z axes, and the incorporation of hardened and ground Turcite slide-ways.

The DynaPath WinDelta CNC control provides customers with speed, flexibility and reliability, reports the company. Conversational and ISO/G-code programming capability is supported by an 8 Gb on-board program storage facility combined with 1,000 line look-ahead capability.

Simple-to-understand menus are a key feature of the DynaPath control, and on-screen graphics help eliminate programming omissions and errors. Functions such as datum setting using alignment; the ability to use ISO and conversational programming on the same platform; sub-program calling; the use of macro-programming; the ability to facilitate program simulation using tool path or 3D rendered graphics; and the provision of programmable spindle control, as well as Wi-Fi enabled remote service support, are just some of the key features.

The five other established models on display will be the MACH MDL 1600 flat-bed CNC lathe, MACH MDM 1000 CNC bed mill, MACH 710MM+ high-speed VMC, MACH 1062-HD heavy-duty VMC and MACH L-1860 manual lathe.

Concludes Andrew: “There is definitely something for everyone on our stand. Not that long ago we were best known for our MACH VS-1 manual turret-type milling machines. In just a few short years our range has expanded exponentially and now includes CNC machines, including a number equipped with the DynaPath control.”
