Iscar offers customers 5-axis service

Iscar Tools has installed a Yamazaki Mazak Variaxis 730-5X II with simultaneous 5-axis capability to better support its customers.

Available to users of Iscar tools, the Variaxis 730-5X II will provide them with off-site facilities for new product/project prove out, re-engineering and optimisation of existing processes, and prototype development.

The Variaxis 730-5X II is a popular choice amongst end-users in the aerospace, power generation, medical and motor sport sectors. The design provides rigidity and maximum strength to tackle tough nickel and titanium alloys, for example, as well as highly alloyed steels.

High-pressure coolant, programmable up to 70 bar, improves cutter performance and metal removal rates, and provides optimum swarf evacuation from the workpiece and machine work area.

The flexibility of the Mazak Variaxis will also be used to demonstrate the full range of innovative products from Iscar during a new season of seminars in 2009.
