Hexagon acquisition of Bricsys could have wider implications

Hexagon AB has acquired Bricsys, a fast-growing developer of CAD software that has been at the forefront of providing open, collaborative construction technology solutions since its founding in 2002.

The Swedish company announced this in relation to its construction solutions portfolio for AEC (architecture, engineering, construction), but it could conceivably have relevance to other Hexagon activities.

Writes Jeff Rowe of www10.mcadcafe.com: “On the mechanical side, the Bricsys acquisition by Hexagon could be a nice fit and complement with metrology (Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence), CAM (Vero Software), simulation (MSC Software), and sheet metal design (Forming Technologies)." Vero's software portfolio includes sheet metal suite Radan, of course. Read Rowe's full report here.
