US-headquartered Hardinge Inc has acquired fellow American Usach Technologies Inc, a privately owned machine tool company specialising in internal and external grinding machines and systems.
The Usach portfolio will expand Hardinge's existing grinding machines and systems activities, which take in the Kellenberger, Jones & Shipman, Hauser, Tschudin and Tripet brands.
According to Usach's website, the company has four ranges of machines – three ID or ID/OD grinders (100, 150 and 200 series) and a five-model range of OD grinders
Usach Technologies, a 27-year-old company located in Elgin, near Chicago, is expecting revenues of about $14 million for 2012.
Richard L Simons, chairman, president, and CEO of Hardinge, said: "This acquisition complements our strategy to maintain our competitive edge by continually advancing and enhancing our product portfolio. Importantly, Usach strengthens our reach into high profile original equipment manufacturers in the US and expands our opportunities in the highly diversified end markets we serve."
