GTMA event to highlight reversals in outsourcing strategy

GTMA's Bringing it Back to Britain event will highlight recent engineering successes from the trend for large OEMs to reconsider their outsourcing policies.

Companies have reported work returning to the UK which previously would have been placed in low cost economies. This reversal of business strategy is in the wake of the cost implications of project managing overseas production.

Over 30 GTMA member companies will be exhibiting at the event, including tool makers, rapid prototype and precision machining companies, as well as the all important technical supporting services of leading metrology, software and cutting tool/workholding suppliers.

Bringing it Back to Britain will be held from 8.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday, 11 May 2011 in Mazak's European Technical Centre, Worcester.

With high performance machining technology on display at the Technical Centre, Mazak can help UK manufacturers achieve significant productivity and profitability increases. Guided tours of the machine tool maker's production and assembly facilities will be arranged on the day. Lunch and light refreshments will also be included.

Richard Noble, a champion of British engineering and the driving force behind the Bloodhound SSC project's attempt to break the 1,000 mph barrier, is the key speaker at the event.
