FPB starts petition to make sure banks are open for business

  • FPB starts petition to make sure banks are open for business
The Forum of Private Business (FPB) has launched a petition calling on the Government to ensure that banks fulfil their bailout obligations of staying 'open for business', particularly when it comes to smaller firms.

The petition is available on the 10 Downing Street website - http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Banks-and-SMEs/

The announcement accompanies the revelation that a third of small businesses surveyed in the Forum of Private Business’s (FPB’s) latest Referendum poll of members actively sought finance during the last quarter of 2008, but that despite the Government’s high-profile bail-out and pressure on banks from the FPB, almost half were either partially or completely rejected by UK lenders.
