Faster aerostructure part machining to be offered by Modig
Sweden’s Modig has launched a machine specifically for the machining of aluminium and composite aerostructure parts, such as stringers, longerons, seat tracks and spars.
The new HHV machine follows the company’s Profiline ‘one-hit’ machining centre and boasts productivity gains of 50 per cent. The first machine will be available to view in at the company’s Swedish headquarters in early 2009.
The HHV also has a smaller footprint than the Profiline and requires no special foundations. UK agent M-Tech UK is offering a turnkey installation of machine and programs, with an offer of “the production of saleable components within 14 days of machine hand over”.
