FANUC to supply BMW group with 3,500 robots

FANUC and automotive group BMW AG have signed a framework agreement for the supply of 3,500 robots that are destined for new production lines and plants. The first shipments from the consignment have already taken place, with installations commencing at the end of 2019.

Moving forward, various FANUC robot models will be used by the BMW Group, both in Germany and internationally, including newly developed arms that have been tailored to the customer's individual requirements.

The robots will be primarily deployed in body-shop operations, and for the production of doors and bonnets. In co-operation with manufacturers of hose packages and traversing axes, FANUC is rounding off its supply agreement with the BMW Group by providing peripheral components.
