Etalon heralds world innovation for volumetric error compensation of 3-axis machines and equipment

Germany’s volumetric error compensation expert Etalon (UK: Mantech Geometrics) is to launch a world innovation for volumetric calibration of 3-axis measuring and machine tools at the Control exhibition (link below story) next month, LineCal.

LineCal is aimed at manufacturers of compact multi-sensor measuring systems, CMMs and machine tools that want to volumetrically calibrate their products quickly and accurately before delivery. The measurement sequence for the entire volumetric calibration is carried out automatically in 40 to 60 minutes, without manual intervention.

All systematic geometric deviations (positional deviations, straightness, pitch, yaw, roll and squareness of all three axes) are recorded in one set-up, using laser light, with LineCal generating volumetric compensation data directly in a controller-specific format. Intelligent routines simplify the alignment.
