EDM Technology Days aim to boost productivity

EDM and HSM/5-axis machining specialist AgieCharmilles is to stage two EDM Technology Demonstration Days at its Coventry headquarters over 13-14 September.

Entitle ‘Optimising EDM Performance’, they are aimed at those looking to improve the performance of their existing EDM machines as a route to increasing competitiveness.

The Technology Days are practical and informative, and specific topics covered will include:

1) Reducing time spent on job set-ups (to just 1 minute for certain applications) using System 3R’s integrated workholding and software solutions;

2) Improving part accuracy, surface finishes and removal rates (by up to 500 per cent) in spark erosion applications by using graphite electrodes instead of copper electrodes;

3) Achieving higher removal rates and improved accuracy in wire-cut EDM applications viang high-performance coated wires instead of brass wire;
