Dormer Tools opts for Heller F series

Heller Machine Tools, Redditch, is to install an FT 4000 5-axis horizontal machining centre at Dormer Tools facility on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sheffield.

The machining centre's high power, high torque and 5-axis credentials were key to the choice, as Dormer Tools' technical sales manager, Rob Smith, explained. "The launch of Heller's new F series proved to be perfect timing for Dormer Tools, as, at that time, we were undertaking an in-depth search for a high torque, very flexible 5-axis machining centre.

"Our challenging list of technical criteria meant that several well known machine tool manufacturers were unable to meet our requirements. After contacting Heller, and following a comprehensive demonstration, we decided that the F Series, FT 4000, best met all of our demanding needs."

In addition to accommodating Dormer Tools UK sales and marketing functions, the company's AMP facility houses a state-of-the art training facility and supports the company's milling, tapping and drilling R&D.
