Festo, DMG and Heller strike deals with Taiwan's HiWin

  • DMG Heller Festo Hiwin ballscrews
European pneumatic devices firm Festo and German machine tool companies DMG and Heller have agreed strategic relationships with Taiwan's leading manufacturer of linear-motion devices and ballscrews, HiWin.

Hiwin has become one of Festo's two major suppliers worldwide and will develop and roll out specialised linear guideways for the company, beginning shipments sometime in the second half of 2012, reports http://news.cens.com.

In addition, Hiwin will also begin supplying custom-made ballscrews and linear guideways to DMG and Heller in the second half of next year.

To meet the increased orders from Europe, Hiwin is speeding up production expansion in Taiwan. The company is setting up a new plant in Dapumei, Chiayi County, southern Taiwan, while the firm's headquarters and a modern factory at Taichung Precision Machinery Park will soon be completed. The company is also seeking to build a third plant.

Hiwin saw £28 million in sales for August, up 77.17% year-on-year and hitting an all-time high. The company saw £189 million in cumulative sales for the first eight months of this year, up 88.75% on the same period last year.
