Citizen and Miyano reveal sales focus strategy

  • Citizen and Miyano reveal sales focus strategy
Citizen Machinery UK and Miyano UK are to focus their sales efforts for mutual benefit.

CNC sliding-head specialist Citizen Machinery UK is to additionally represent the Miyano range of turning centres in Scotland, North of England and North Wales, the East Midlands and East Anglia, while fixed-head turning specialist Miyano UK will now concentrate its efforts in the Midlands and the South.

"By utilising our sales specialists in this vast area of the UK, this will allow the Miyano Machinery UK sales operation to focus on the Midlands and the South. However, there is no change in the commercial, application and service support for the Miyano range of equipment, which will continue to be administered from the Birmingham headquarters of Miyano Machinery UK," said Citizen Machinery UK managing director Geoff Bryant.

Both UK operations, which were drawn together following the acquisition of 65 per cent of Miyano shares by Citizen in Japan during 2008, will continue to take maximum advantage of their respective brands and separate sectors of operation that they have each represented for over 25 years. Citizen's focus is for small turned part production up to 32 mm diameter bar size; Miyano's is up to 64 mm. The Miyano portfolio also contains auto-loaded chucking operations for some of its machines.

Said John Stretton, general manager, Miyano Machinery UK: "This change in sales strategy will work to our advantage by providing additional people to maintain contact with customers and create a high standard of support in complex turn-milling. Because of the investment in advanced 'one-hit' machining technology, both Miyano and Citizen already have many common customers in this area of the country, so it is a sound logistical move agreed between Mr Bryant and myself."
