  • CERATIZIT acquires US carbide firm
CERATIZIT, Mamer, Luxembourg has acquired Newcomer Products, Inc, a privately owned company headquartered in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

“The Newcomer acquisition meets our objective for sustainable global growth through expansion in the NAFTA countries and Asia,” said CERATIZIT spokesman Jacques Lanners. Newcomer is CERATIZIT's third site in the US.

A household name in the US carbide industry, Newcomer Products specialises in the manufacturing and finishing of tungsten carbide products for metalcutting and wear applications. From water-based spray dried powders to sinter-hip technology, Newcomer Products is on the leading edge of carbide enhancements and supplies major US metalworking industries.

The company was founded in 1945, employs 130 people and realised sales of more than $20 million in 2006.

Nate K. Parker Jr., chairman of Newcomer Products said: "We were looking for a partner with strong technological support and both a global view and strong roots in the US. Clearly, CERATIZIT is one of the rising stars in the business and they wanted to build up their presence in the US. CERATIZIT is a perfect fit and we are happy to be part of their team".
