Bloodhound supersonic car gears up for MACH 2010

The Bloodhound supersonic car will join the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre's Manufacturing Transporter and the British Gliding Association's Simulator as major features, within a new Education & Training zone, at MACH2010.

MACH 2010 exhibition organisers, the Manufacturing Technologies Association, will launch the Education & Training zone at this year's show as a means to attract young people into manufacturing, and demonstrate what a future of engineering may have in store for them.

A key draw will be the Bloodhound jet-powered vehicle, which aims to break the world land-speed record and the 1,000 mph barrier during a three-year project.

Schools and colleges have already begun registering their attendance at MACH (free, via the link below) where the BLOODHOUND education team, led by director Dave Rowley, will explain the technology behind the car during their five-day residency in the Education & Training zone.

Bloodhound runs its own inspirational education programme for primary and secondary school-aged pupils, and for students in further and higher education. The programme, and the activities that run alongside it, relate back to their mission statement – 'To confront and overcome the impossible using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics'.

The MACH 2010 Education & Training zone is open to all MACH visitors and will feature exhibitors supplying to the education field, alongside engineering activities, competitions and a seminar theatre.
