BG Engineering, a subcontractor providing precision machined components, is celebrating after reaching the final of two regional business awards. The company, based in Chesterfield, has made it on to the shortlists for the Excellence in Manufacturing Award at both the Sheffield Business Awards and the Derbyshire Times Business Awards.

Antony Holmes, managing director of BG Engineering, says: "To be recognised for the positive effects our business has on both the Sheffield and Derbyshire regions is testament to the skills and expertise of our team. We are looking forward to the finals in November; if we win it would be the perfect finish to a successful 30th anniversary year."

The winners of the Derbyshire awards will be announced on 15 November during a ceremony at Chesterfield College, while the Sheffield awards dinner takes place at Ponds Forge on 29 November.

Founded in 1988, BG Engineering has more than 30 employees (including four apprentices), and 18 CNC machines, boasting customers across the UK and Europe. The company is ISO9001 accredited and focused on continual improvement by having its own in-house inspection department to ensure that all parts reach the customer 'right first time'. BG is also currently working towards securing AS9100 accreditation to become an approved aerospace supplier.

Cooper Brown Enterprises (CBE), owned by Marie Cooper and Chris Brown, invested in BG Engineering in 2017. BG Engineering, which is also co-owned by Holmes, then acquired Pentag Gears and Oilfield Equipment in May 2018.
