Citizen-Miyano Open House

One-stop turn-milling technology is the theme for Citizen and Miyano Machinery's Open House in Bushey, Watford, with the launch of the Miyano BNJ-3 Series fixed head turning centre and the first production versions of the 'E' for Evolution Citizen K-16 and L20 sliding head turn-mill centres.

All three machines are being shown for the first time in Europe as production models.

With a total of seven machines from Citizen and Miyano demonstrating complex machining cycles at the three-day event, high emphasis is being placed on the reduction of non-cutting or 'dead' time in a machining cycle. This is being achieved with the latest control and software technology improving overlapping of machine and tool movements.

The Miyano BNJ-3 Series with 42 and 51 mm bar capacity will be represented by the BNJ-42SY3, for which the previous generation of machine was a top-seller with over 100 installations in the UK.

Following the showing of pre-production versions at MACH 2010 in June the first of the new K and L-series of Citizen machines will be demonstrating new levels of short cycling able to save between 35 and 60 per cent of idle times, made possible by the latest CPU technology.

The Citizen K16E-VII has already demonstrated 45 per cent savings on a 45 sec turn-mill cycle against a non-Evolution machine.

Managing director Geoff Bryant added: "In order to help visitors obtain the most from visiting the Open House we have also invited key suppliers from the industry that can help to advance productivity to demonstrate a wide variety of tooling, accessories, automation and software."

These companies include: Sandvik Coromant; Iscar Tools; Floyd Automatic Tooling; Kitagawa/IEMCA; LNS Turbo; Hainbuch and Prospec Systems.
