Circular saw challenges bandsaw June 2007

bandsaws, circular saws, high production sawing For tubes up to 15 mm wall thickness and 170 mm diameter as well as for solid bars up to 160 mm diameter - previously a domain of band saws - RSA has developed the RASACUT XXL circular saw.

Blanks for die-formed parts, pistons, shafts, drums, and axes - just to name a few - are more likely to be sawn on slow bandsaws, even though they are produced in large batches. Up to now, circular saws were not sufficiently flexible and productive for the efficient manufacture of a wide spectrum of workpieces.

Depending on the workpiece, customer applications have demonstrated a cutting time up to 90 % below that of even up-to-date band saws. Added to this is an improved cut quality with regard to perpendicularity and surface roughness. This high increase in productivity is mainly due to the drive of the saw. With up to 40 kW, the saw drive attains a rated torque of up to 1,500 Nm which is consistent at almost any speed.
