Heidenhain iTNC 530 CNC control system now imports DXF files May 2006

DXF files can be imported over the factory network or simply by copying the file from a USB memory stick. Files can then be opened in the same way as standard NC program with the iTNC control recognising the type of operating mode, either Heidenhain’s SmarT.NC or programming and editing mode, used to open the file. Users can then extract the specific contours and save them as a plain language program.

Normally within DXF files there are multiple layers of information, which a designer has used to create the structure and group certain elements. To simplify what appears on the screen of the iTNC 530 unnecessary layers are hidden through simple mouse clicks.

To further streamline use of DXF files the iTNC control has a function that allows a drawing datum to be re-positioned to a more suitable location for manufacturing purposes.
