Japanese EDM machine maker Sodick is to establish a manufacturing company in Amoy, China.
This marks a new phase in the global expansion of the company, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in August, says Sodick.
The name of the new company is Sodick (Amoy) Co Ltd and the plant will occupy 58,000 sq m. Production is scheduled to start in July 2007, and it is expected to produce 1,500 units per year within 3 years and increase the total for the Sodick group to 5,500 units per year.
When the new plant is completed, Sodick will have four production facilities - Sodick Fukui in Japan; Sodick (Thailand); Suzhou Sodick Special Equipment Co Ltd and Sodick (Amoy), both of China.
