Biglia b-axis mill-turn centre - Smart Turn 1200 May 2006

The machine's HSK-63 milling spindle delivers 86 Nm via a 9 kW motor with a 6,000 rpm maximum speed. B-axis movement above the spindle centreline is ± 105 degrees, with locking by Hirth coupling. Y-axis travel is 210 mm. Torque of the 26 kW / 2,800 rpm main spindle motor is also high at up to 920 Nm, delivered via a two-speed gearbox for aggressive metal removal when turning. There is a 6-axis Smart Turn 1200S model as well, having an opposed, 11 kW/5,000 rpm sub spindle with c-axis in place of the programmable tailstock.
