Unicut Precision, Welwyn Garden City has purchased precision small parts turning contractor A J Clarke (Automatic Machinists) of Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
A J Clarke is a specialist small turned parts firm operating in the same sector as Unicut and employs 14 people; Unicut employs 30. “We are committed to maintain a continuity of service to A J Clark’s customers and will be working with the team at Bourne End to ensure there will be no disruption or reduction in quality standards,” said Jason Nicholson, joint managing director of Unicut (picture, left). “Our success has been through carrying out a policy of continuous investment and once we have absorbed the way the new business operates, we plan to invest to build the company as a sister operation,” adds Charles Kenny, joint managing director (picture, right).
In fact, A J Clarke has recently installed a Citizen C16 CNC sliding-head auto and Miyano BNJ compact turning centre to provide mill-turn cycles in addition to its installed base of cam autos and special-purpose machines dedicated to second operation machining cycles.
Unicut is just completing the doubling of its shopfloor facilities at Welwyn Garden City to 12,500 ft2 where it houses 13 Citizen and two Star CNC sliding-head autos and one Miyano compact turning centre. During the year sales have increased by 28 per cent with some 40 per cent of orders taken from export markets in the US, Canada, Germany and Malta. The company starts the New Year with an order book totalling £900,000.
