Midland Tool and Design's Modulam system is a tooling platform for Bruderer 50 tonne and 60 tonne, or Bliss 200 tonne presses.
The company claims the Modulam system can halve conventional tooling costs, through using a dedicated die set and modular components which suit the tooling configuration.
Using a unique tooling holder, bespoke tooling elements are designed and manufactured in-house from steel or carbide and, once the die has been set in place, the savings are estimated to be up to 50 per cent, compared to a dedicated tooling approach.
The system is suited for small to medium volume projects, and is particularly suited to prototyped stamped laminations because it eliminates the need for photo or laser etching.
The Modulam system will be of particular interest to aerospace, motorsport and medical sectors.
