FARO has sold their Laser Tracker ION to companies from the aerospace and power generation industries.

Precision laser measurement for aerospace and power generation industriesOne of the customers, Brookhouse Tooling Limited, will use the Laser Tracker ION to check aerospace tooling and fixtures as well as alignment of composite lay up tools.

"FARO have shown true commitment to their customer's requirements. Not only do they strive to achieve affordability, but the accuracy, quality of product and outstanding level of customer service grows better year by year." said Angus Fielden, Quality Manager at Brookhouse Tooling Limited.

Another customer is Drax Power Limited, the owner and operator of Drax Power Station. The laser tracker will be employed to reduce the duration of maintenance outages on its steam turbines, whilst offering a significant improvement in accuracy.

The FARO Laser Tracker ION, a 3D measurement system, features a longer measurement range, lighter weight, and contains the fastest, most sophisticated distance measuring system: Agile Absolute Distance Meter (aADM). Specifically, the ION has improved the volumetric accuracy by 27 per cent over the previous model to 0.049 mm at 10 metres. The measurement diameter range has been extended by 36 per cent to 110 metres, and the weight has decreased by 12 per cent to 17.7 kg).

"At FARO, our goal is to continuously provide advanced solutions that empower our customers," said David Homewood, Area Vice President of Sales for the UK, France and Benelux. "Those sales are proofing that we're meeting the requirements of the market with the ION. It is the ideal tool for anybody who needs to carry out quick and precise measurements – especially for large parts and composites and especially in difficult environments. We are very confident that the ION will continue to be a success on the UK market."
