LATROBE, PA – New premium SGE inserts for Kennametal's Mill 1-14/18 platform are engineered to provide improved performance and strong customer value for companies machining stainless steels, super alloys, and high-strength steels. They are a perfect choice for such applications as face milling, shoulder milling, pocketing, contour milling, and full slotting, says Global Product Manager Dennis McNamara.

New Kennametal Mill 1 14™ Inserts are Designed for Machining Stainless and Super AlloysInnovative micro-geometry features contribute greatly to the new SGE inserts' enhanced performance, including a 20-degree rake angle, negative T-land, and small hone. Results include up to 25 percent higher feed capability, significantly reducing cycle times, lower cutting forces, contributing up to 35 percent longer tool life. Test results in producing 90-degree walls have proven excellent as well.

"Increasing productivity and a reduction in milling costs, particularly when machining expensive exotic materials, are essential for continued quality improvement and keeping manufacturing companies in business," McNamara continues. "Markets as diverse as aerospace, automotive, energy and power generation, medical, food processing, chemical processing, and die and mold will benefit from these products."
