Micro Lubrication Systems made by Tecnolub of Belgium are now available in the UK through MacInnes Tooling Ltd.
The system's principle is that of using a lubricant in very small quantities, and it is generally used as a replacement for flood coolant.
Very high quality vegetable base cutting oil is held in a small container and fed by gravity to a Micro Pump. The output from the pump is adjustable from 0 to 30 cubic mm per stroke.
Oil droplets from the pump are carried in a stream of air to the nozzle on the machine and directed at the cutting zone. It is a droplet system not a mist system - no mist is created.
The benefits of the system include a huge drop in fluid consumption, typically up to a 90 per cent reduction.
