A free 3M guide helps reduce costs and improve productivity for turbine blade manufacturers and repairers.

Free guide for turbine blade makers and repairers3M's Turbine Blade Application Guide (TBAG) helps turbine engineers find the abrasives, finishing media, high temperature textiles, adhesives, personal protection systems and air tools suitable for the most demanding turbine applications

The TBAG helps engineers select products most suitable for the target application based on these 3M technologies. Detailed performance parameters are supplied by part number, allowing the exact solution to be specified from well defined selection criteria.

Specific turbine blade applications include stock removal, finishing and blending, adhesives tapes for aluminium, stainless steel nickel alloy and titanium substrates, billet preparation using abrasive belts, forge, cast and machined turbine blade finishing, and the refurbishment of nozzle guide vanes.

Abrasive systems product manager Henry Blackman says "The TBAG was developed because we became aware that products from across 3M are used in a variety of turbine blade companies but there was no one document pulling all this related experience together. We were keen to display this information to our customers in a way that wasn't simply a big list of products with part numbers. TBAG sets out to mirror the processes of our customers, highlighting where 3M has a solution to offer. This will help 3M business managers discuss products and technologies with customers within turbine accounts, establishing 3M's position as a diversified technology partner in the turbine blade manufacture and repair market."
