Press agency Reuters reports that machine tool maker Amada Co plans to invest ¥10 billion to boost its European foothold by buying an Italian software developer, taking a stake in a Finnish firm and opening technology centres.
In detail, the investments are: ¥800 million for 100 percent of Italian firm Computes Inc, which develops and sells software for sheet metal processing; a 20 per cent stake in Finland's LKI Kaldman Ltd, which produces robots to transport sheet metal and other factory automation equipment - a ¥700 million investment; while the company is to invest around ¥7.5 billion in building facilities in Germany and Italy to provide technological support to clients.
Amada is the world's second-largest manufacturer of sheet metal machine tools, Reuters added.
