Hurco Open House offers the complete packageThe latest 5-axis machining centre and driven-tool lathe from Hurco Europe will be among 11 machines under power at the company’s next Open House, to be held at its High Wycombe showroom on 9, 10 and 11 December 2008, 9.00 am until 5.30 pm each day.

Two new additions to the range include the VMU 5-axis machining centre and the 8-inch chuck TMM8, the driven tool version of the 2-axis TM8.

The VM10U 5-axis machining centre is a compact, 40-taper, 12 kW model with trunnion-mounted table offering a 533 x 406 x 483 mm working volume for parts weighing up to 150 kg. It will be one of four 5-axis machines on display.

Tthe 8-inch chuck TMM8 is ideal for turning jobs that need off-centre drilled holes or milled slots. The machine allows more operations to be carried out in a single handling and the conversational routines allow economic small batch production.

In parallel with the Open House machine tool offering, Hurco will be hosting a ‘supplier village’ where eight specialist companies will display their products and have technical experts on hand to answer questions. There will be four tooling suppliers – Nikken, SGS Carbide, Gewefa and Ceratizit – all of which offer different strengths in cutter, insert and toolholder technology.

Nikken will also show its range of rotary tables. CADCAM software supplier, Open Mind, will demonstrate recent releases of hyperMILL, and Renishaw will show its latest probing solutions. There will be workholding equipment in evidence from Roemheld as well as bar-feed magazines from Hydrafeed.

Visitors to the show will be able to depart with a complete production package to suit their needs. In any case, they will be given a 1GB memory stick containing Hurco’s WinMax demonstration software for machining centres and lathes, which may be trialled free for three months.

All 11 machines on show will be special ‘Christmas bargains’ offered at ex-demonstration prices. If anyone in Ireland, Scotland and Scandinavia needs further encouragement to attend, free flights are being provided on request.

During 2009 there will be further 5-axis machining centre and mill-turn lathe introductions, as well as additions to Hurco’s large, bridge-type and travelling-column machining centres unveiled at IMTS 2008.
