Xtra.tec Turm combines both positive and negative insert advantages November 2008

The Xtra.tec Turn double-sided indexable insert promises high productivity and low tool costs by combining in one the advantages of positive and negative inserts. As a result, the new insert provides double the number of cutting edges of conventional positive indexable inserts.

With a high positive rake angle for soft cutting action and low cutting forces, as well as unhindered chip flow, Xtra.tec Turn is ideally suited to machining thin unstable parts as well as deep internal applications where vibration is traditionally a problem.

The insert fits both the Xtra.tec Turn toolholder with screw clamping and standard ISO holders with lever-type clamping. Supported by full profile shims, the insert is totally stable and offers maximum productivity with economic tool life. This system is also available in twin lip boring version and for cartridge-type special tools.
