Milling cutter with better chip evacuation in slotting operations November 2008

The Z-Plunge milling cutter is designed for aerospace, die and mould, and general engineering applications. With a superior design for increased chip evacuation in slotting operations, the milling cutter can increase productivity by up to 30 per cent, says Kennametal.

Four cutting edges per insert offer good economy. Positive cutting geometries reduce cutting forces and provide for increased feedrates. Coolant is delivered through interchangeable coolant nozzles available in nine different sizes to accommodate most machines.

The new cutters are available in screw-on, end mill, and shell mill styles. Sizes range from 32 to 160 mm and 1.25 to 6inches. Inserts, in both ground and direct-pressed forms, come in various grades to suit most workpiece materials.
