Atkin Automation scores Emerald Isle successes 04/08/2008

Sheet metal technology firm Atkin Automation has won two new major contracts in Ireland for its automated production systems.

The orders amount to £450,000 and are for a 3,000 kg cut-to-length, punching and rollforming line for Northern Ireland, with the second going to Eire and for a coil handling line with 1,000kg capacity which will act as the front-end source of 300mm to 3000 mm long blanks. This will be integrated into existing manufacturing equipment to enable the blanks to be automatically fed through to the subsequent stages of the production process.

The first is the fifth Atkin Automation production line ordered by a cable systems company. The new line will process metal strip up to 600 mm wide and 1.5 mm thick to produce trunking blanks at a rate of 10 per minute at 3,000mm length. The line will be fitted with the latest servo controlled punching technology enabling completely flexible hole positioning. The blanks will then be fed into a precision roll former with servo positioned adjustable rafts.

The Eire order is the first coil handling system to be supplied by Atkin Automation to this particular company.
