Gildemeister AG aims to break €2 billion order intake threshold 01/08/2008

German machine tool maker Gildemeister AG’s (DMG (UK)) mid-year order intake for 2008 rocketed by almost a third to €1.133 million

On the back of this performance, it is predicting to break through the €2 billion threshold for the year, with a 50 per cent increase in profits from sales revenues that are already registered as 20 per cent higher at €851.5 million.

Sales have been boosted by new product launches, reports the company. For instance, at EMO 2007 in Hanover, of the 70 exhibits on the 4,000 m sq stand, 14 were world launches drawing 526 machine sales directly from the show and over 9,000 enquiries.

In the second quarter of 2008, sales were boosted by the METAV exhibition in Düsseldorf, selling organisation DMG (UK)’s presence at MACH 2008 in Birmingham and the Die and Mould show in China.

These exhibitions helped to bring the group order backlog at 30 June to €1,031.3 million – an increase of 73 per cent to break through the €1 billion milestone for the first time.

And with the September exhibitions of AMB in Stuttgart, where a 1,000 m sq stand will show 23 machines (six being world launches), and IMTS in Chicago followed by BiMU in Milan during October, an early surge to the final six months trading figures is expected.
