Bond technology developed by Tyrolit reduces heat in the grinding zone, allowing higher stock removal rates and faster grinding cycles.
Using this technology, reduces the amount of bond in the wheel, increases wheel porosity and thus reduces frictional heat. Higher grinding speeds and better form holding are just two of the benefits gained.
An external cylindrical grinding wheel range that uses cubic boron nitride (CBN) grains in a vitrified bond called GENIS is intended for large volume production of automotive components such as camshafts, crankshafts and gear shafts. Compared with existing competitive CBN wheels, increases of up to 60 per cent in wheel life are claimed for the new superabrasive products.
Tyrolit combines these new bond systems with the latest CBN crystals chosen for their sharpness, thermal stability and high fracture strength. These grains and their selection are at the heart of the high grinding ratios achievable. A number of different core materials are available as the carrier body for GENIS wheels, including specially produced carbon fibre cores that give the added benefit of extremely low weight, making mounting simpler and easier for the operator.
