Positive start for Gildemeister 12/06/2008
 
Gildemeister AG, whose machine tools are sold through the DMG organisation, has reported a positive start to the year.

The German machine tool builder has posted an order intake that has increased to €591.9 million (+42 per cent) on the previous year's first quarter; sales revenues rose to €392.0 million (+22 per cent). Profitability €33.4 million (previous year €24.1 million).

As at 31 March 2008, order backlog in the group amounted to €949.3 million (+75 per cent). Gildemeister plans an order intake of more than €1.9 billion for the whole year.

Apart from machine tools, Gildemeister now also counts solar panel technology amongst its activities and its “SunCarrier“ division contributed €112.8 million the first quarter’s order intake.
