Large rake angle inserts reduce cutting resistance May 2008

UP turning inserts for the Kenna Perfect turning system represent an improved turning geometry for demanding stainless steel applications.

The design delivers improved chip control in 300-series stainless steels and provides a soft cutting action that results in lower cutting forces. The large rake angle provides less cutting resistance that improves both surface finish on parts and extends tool life for increased productivity. The design geometry also improves resistance to a common insert failure: depth-of-cut notching.

The UP geometry is available in the new KC9225, KC9240 and KC5010 grades.
