The Technology Strategy Board was established as an executive public body at arm's length from government in July 2007, and is sponsored by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS). Its mission is to promote and support research into, and the development and exploitation of, technology and innovation for the benefit of UK business. It will spend £1 billion in the coming three years alone.
