Waterjet investment boosts productivity 23/04/2008

The four-head Byjet Pro Waterjet on show on the Bystronic stand at MACH 2008 has been sold to Access Engineering, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

Having recently completed a £1 million project for the refurbishment of St Pancras station, London which used the company's existing waterjet technology, the company was looking for a waterjet system that would support higher volume production and: “The machine had to be capable of putting Access Engineering at the forefront of what is available in terms of accuracy, consistency and speed,” said Mark Thornhill, managing director.

“In addition, the chosen supplier not only had to offer machine build quality but also an after-sales package to match.”

The company benchmarked a number of machines before making its final choice. With this machine being the only one to feature a shuttle table, the company expects to reap “huge cost savings” which will benefit its customers.

An additional benefit is the machine's capability of pre-drilling composites, allowing the processing of such materials without delamination taking place. “This feature alone will open up new markets sectors for us,” reports Mr Thornhill.
