Zeiss world premiere for Duramax 22/04/2008
 
Zeiss offered MACH 2008 visitors a world premiere with the launch of its DuraMax CNC CMM.

The unit is shopfloor hardened, has a measuring volume of 500 mm3 and comes as standard with scanning probe.

Intended as a replacement for multiple traditional gauges used in 'in line' manner, accuracy is 2.4 micron +L/300 for a temperature range of 18 to 22°C and 2.9 micron +L/250 for the range 18 to 30°C. The machine also boasts 2.9 micron +L/250 in manual, joystick mode.

More importantly, temperature gradiant capability is 5°C over 24 hours and 2°C over two hours.

The DuraMax costs in the region of £30,000 to £35,000, can be installed in half a day, with it being in productive use after three days. Calypso software features.

The first batch of 150 will be manufactured in Germany: following that, production will move to Shanghai. This will be the first CMM made at the company's China factory that will be shipped worldwide. Already made there for the local market is the Contura G2 CMM.
